The past and the present academic records and achievements of the college as well as its contribution to greater social and national life emphatically espouse this demand. Accordingly, the college authority has already sent its proposal to the U.G.C. to that effect. Moreover, the college as such and particularly its post-graduate departments require academic autonomy to fulfill its mission of achieving academic excellence. It is hoped that the Government of West Bengal would come forward to help granting academic autonomy to the college. The college is constantly aware of the need to maintain the high level of academic excellence, which it has already attained.
